The Institute of Neurophysiology of the University of Cologne has long-standing interests in cellular, molecular and genomic analyis of murine and human ES cells as well as translational research for clinical application. UKK was among the first institutions obtaining the permission to work on hES cells in Germany and has experience coordinating EU-funded projects. UKK has coordinated the pan-European FunGenES consortium (Functional
Genomics in Engineered ES cells) and is currently leading the large-scale in vitro-toxicology IP “ESNATS” (ES cell-based novel alternative testing strategies) and the STREP “Crystal” (Cryo-banking of human stem cells for therapeutic application) and is participating in the FP7 projects Infact Cell Therapy and HYPERLAB.
